Meet nvrmind., a small consulting company in the tech industry with a mission to create innovative solutions for non-profit organizations. Their board has just been one person stronger since one of our debsters, Emelie Renholm, joined. In this interview with Viktor Sahlström, founder and CEO of nvrmind, we delve into the positive impact this addition has had on their corporate strategy and growth.


Q: Why did you look for new board competence?

We wanted to diversify our board by including someone with different skills, experiences and perspectives than our existing board team.

We also wanted to benefit from a chairperson with a strong strategic view and experience in leading companies, which would help us formulate and execute our corporate strategy more effectively.


Q: What did the recruitment process look like?

We started by establishing a requirement profile where we defined the specific competencies and experiences we sought in the new board chair, including previous board work and leadership experience.

Through a friend of ours, Gerda, we got in touch with deb. - their extensive knowledge of the space quickly got us in touch with several potential candidates.

We conducted interviews and assessments of candidates, including discussions about their experience, leadership style and views on our corporate strategy.

After careful evaluation, we decided that Emelie was the best suited candidate and offered her the position as chairman of the board.

Emelie started her career as a strategy consultant at BCG and then moved on to different operational responsibilities before taking on the CEO role in Newbody. Other valuable experiences include executive coaching and entrepreneurship. 


Q: What was the result of the process?

The result of our recruitment process was that we were able to choose an external board chairman who met our needs and expectations. Emelie has already brought valuable insights and experience to the board, and we are convinced that she will contribute to our corporate strategy and growth in the tech industry ahead.

Q: Why do you think it is important to have new perspectives on the board?

New perspectives can help generate innovative ideas and solutions, which is crucial in a rapidly evolving tech industry. We believe that a diversified board can better identify and manage risks by taking different aspects and scenarios into account.

By including people with different networks and industry experience, the board can also help open new doors and opportunities for the company's growth.
