Malin Kjällström’s Journey in the deb. Program: Insights and Takeaways

Malin Källström, a member of the deb. cohort 2022/2023, shares her learnings and takeaways from the program as a guest author in this blog post.

Over the past six years, I have immersed myself in working with early-stage companies and fundraising. Being close to entrepreneurs in this intense phase of company building has felt like being swept up in a hectic, turbulent, yet thrilling current. This experience has given me a unique insight into the dynamics and rapid developments that characterize the business world in its earliest stages.

When faced with the decision of choosing a board training program, I thought long and hard. Many options did not appeal to me, as I wanted more than just theoretical information available on a website. My goal was to gain insights and experiences that cannot be simply read about, I wanted to develop on a deeper level.

What caught my attention with deb. were several aspects. Firstly, the opportunity for "deep dives", a concept I have long been incredibly interested in. I believed this deep-diving approach would give me the profound understanding and insight I sought to make even more qualified judgments and decisions as a board member.

Another aspect I found appealing was the potentially valuable network. I have said it many times, and I will say it again: I have rarely encountered so many cool, competent, and fantastic individuals in one place as I had the opportunity to meet during this program. Building connections and sharing experiences with these like-minded individuals has already proven invaluable for my own professional development.

A personal favorite among the topics was the discussion on the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in the boardroom. This was an area that truly piqued my interest and which I see as an invaluable asset for navigating the rapidly changing business world. Understanding how AI can be integrated and used strategically at the board level is something I believe will become increasingly crucial for company success.

In summary, this board training program has been a journey filled with lessons, insights, and an expanded network. It has provided me with tools and perspectives that I did not have before, and I feel equipped to take on new challenges with a deeper understanding of the complex world of corporate governance.

Final Thoughts

Participating in the deb. program has been a transformative experience that I highly recommend to anyone interested in deepening their knowledge in corporate governance and strategic leadership. The program offers not only theoretical knowledge but also practical tools and an unbeatable network of like-minded and inspiring individuals. I look forward to continuing my journey in corporate governance, equipped with the insights and experience I have gained through the deb. program.
